Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on pricing, licensing, and how crew continuity actually works.

Still have a question?

Answer a handful of questions and get a firm number back in writing — I-440 rush-hour backups and a July afternoon in the truck already factored in, so nothing extra shows up once the crew does.

Below are the questions Priya and Julian field most often from Wake County households booking a move. If you don’t see your question here, call our Poole Rd office directly — you’ll get a straight answer from the person who’ll actually be coordinating your move, not a script.

How does pricing and getting a quote work?
Priya Nandakumar walks every household through either an in-home visit or a video walkthrough and builds your estimate off what she actually sees — furniture count, stairs, packing needs, distance — rather than a flat guess over the phone. Local moves are typically billed hourly with the crew size built into your quote up front; long-distance moves are priced by weight and distance. Either way, you'll have a written estimate before move day with no surprise add-ons for things like furniture pads or floor protection, since those are included.
Is Hands 2 Hands Moving actually licensed and insured?
Yes — Hands 2 Hands Moving is a fully licensed and insured North Carolina household-goods carrier, and every crew member is trained and covered before they touch a customer's belongings. We maintain active North Carolina household-goods carrier registration and a current certificate of insurance on file, and we're glad to provide it to any customer who asks before booking.
Are you an actual moving company, or do you just refer me to a mover?
Yes, we are the moving company. Hands 2 Hands Moving runs our own trucks, employs our own crews, and handles every job ourselves from the walkthrough to the final box. We never hand your details off to another company to work your job, and there's no middleman fee baked into your price. When you call us, you're booking directly with the crew that's going to show up on your move day.
Do you handle long-distance and out-of-state moves?
Yes. Dante Broadnax and our long-distance drivers run regular routes out of Raleigh to Charlotte, Richmond, DC, and beyond, and we've handled households moving well past those lanes when the job calls for it. The same continuity rule applies on long-distance jobs as local ones — the crew that loads your home rides the truck and carries everything off at the destination, rather than transferring your things to a different truck partway through.
How far in advance do I need to book?
For a standard local move, two to three weeks out gives us the best pick of crew and truck availability, especially during the busier summer months when a lot of Triangle leases turn over at once. That said, we keep flexibility built into the schedule for shorter-notice jobs — see the next question.
Can you handle a last-minute or short-notice move?
Yes, and it's one of our more common calls. Short-notice moves anywhere in Wake County get the same crew-continuity approach as a job booked a month out — we just compress the planning window, not the care that goes into the move itself. Call and tell us your timeline and we'll tell you honestly whether we can staff it.
What happens if my move date or plans change?
Tell Priya or Julian as soon as you know. Closing delays, lease overlaps, and moved-up move-in dates are routine in Wake County real estate, and we'd rather reschedule a job than force a date that doesn't work. There's no penalty for reasonable notice, and we'll do what we can to accommodate a shorter turnaround if your plans move up instead of back.
Why does it matter that the same crew stays with my move?
Because it's the point where most moving complaints actually start. When a load gets handed off to a different crew partway through, whether at a warehouse on a long-distance run or just a shift change on a local job, nobody on either end can tell you what happened to your things in between. Marcus Whitfield built this company in 2013 specifically to cut that handoff out — the two or three people who wrap and load your belongings in Raleigh are the same people carrying them into your new place, so there's never a gap where something goes missing, gets damaged, or gets mishandled without anyone able to account for it.

What We Commit To

Six Things We Promise On Every Raleigh Move

Every one of these is a working rule, not ad copy — Marcus and the crew hold to them on every Wake County job, from a tight street in downtown Raleigh to a new build out past Wake Forest.

One Crew, No Substitutions

Whoever Priya books you with is who shows up — a slow I-440 crossing or a tight turn onto a downtown Raleigh street doesn’t change who’s carrying your boxes.

North Carolina-Registered, Fully Insured

We keep our North Carolina household-goods carrier registration active, cargo coverage rides with every load, and a certificate of insurance reaches a Cary or Apex HOA board the same day they ask for one.

Our Payroll, Never A Staffing Agency

Every mover on your truck is one of our own W-2 employees — Reggie has run the same four-man crew for six years, and nobody new gets added just to cover a busy Saturday.

The Estimate Holds, Full Stop

The number Priya books you at is the number due once the last box is off the truck — no carve-outs. A slow I-440 crossing, an awkward carry on a narrow downtown Raleigh street, sitting at an HOA gate check-in out in Holly Springs — that’s on us to absorb, never you.

Reggie’s Crew, Not A Rotating Cast

The names Priya gives you at booking are the same four people at your truck on move day — nobody on your job gets pulled mid-move to cover a different one on the schedule.

A Window That Actually Holds

If the job ahead of yours runs long, that’s Julian’s problem to manage, not yours — dispatch calls before it eats into your window, and we make it right if it costs you real time.

The Full Hands 2 Hands Moving Story

Raleigh movers who never swap crews mid-move — the same hands that load your truck are the hands that carry everything into your new place.
